Vintage Aviator Helmet By Scully Brothers
Aviator helmets from the early days of flight are not only hard to find, but difficult to find in the excellent condition of this post- WW1 and pre- WW2 era vintage aviator helmet by Scully Bros. Early 20th Century leather flying helmet for air mail carriers dates by patent number to 1929. Shearling is in terrific condition as is leather; metal buckle has some oxidation but we’ve not cleaned it. Snap closures on side to hold in goggles (not provided, but we do have vintage goggles, sunglasses, and spectacles – just ask).
The next time you exit an airplane, and express your gratitude to the pilot and co-pilot (as I know you, like I, do), think about the early pioneers of flight and the conditions under which they flew. Can you imagine if today’s flight crew had to wear shearling in the cabin to stay warm? See many more detail photos and buy this vintage aviator helmet by Scully Bros.
